All good news, I think. If they come off as old and decrepit then we might all wish they left our good memories untarnished. I will hope that they all can deliver the goods as The Who did at the Concert for New York before Entwistle died. They blew every other band there, many of whom were 20 years their juniors, off of the stage.

Quick Poll

I have a question for all of the parents out there. How often are your kids coming home with notes that cases of headlice have been discovered in their school? I don't remember EVER having my head checked for headlice as a gradeschooler. My kid however is coming home on an almost bi-weekly basis with a note announcing that another case or cases of headlice have been discovered in her class. What is up with this? Is this happening everywhere or is this an Appalacian thing? Lucky for us, Ingrid puts so much product in Somnia's hair that a louse would have a really hard time getting any grip. Regardless, the thought of lice even within several feet of my child makes me itch.

Lack of Creativity

Curiosity killed the cat. It is also responsible for me watching the Saddam execution video. I wish I didn’t. It’s not that it was that gruesome or graphic. It wasn’t but the reality of the whole thing comes screaming at you at you see the floor drop out from under the former dictator. It really made me evaluate my own thoughts on state sponsored executions.

Unless someone is capable to admit that they could personally pull the lever that makes the floor fall out then they can’t truly support capital punishment. How much sense does it make that someone would say, “I’m for capital punishment but I could never be the one to flip the lever.” Well then you truly aren’t for capital punishment because something about it bothers you enough to not be able to do it yourself. Me, I could never flip the lever unless it was a life and death self-defense situation, so subsequently, I guess I am against capital punishment.

Saddam was given newspapers during his stint in prison and at the time of his death knew the complete truth about the miserable current state of Iraq. Granting Saddam access to media was completely idiotic. He died completely convinced that HE was the savior of Iraq and that without him, Iraq fell apart.

A more apt punishment would have been to employ talented American screenwriters and filmmakers to construct weekly fictional films on how beautiful Iraq was becoming after the fall of Saddam and make Saddam himself watch them. Then also construct heart wrenching documentaries of the victims of his crimes and make him watch them over and over daily until the last day of his natural life. Instead we took the boring age old method of tying a noose around the guy’s neck while he made faux heroic grandiose statements and was taunted by onlookers. How uncreative.
