Little Kid Quality Metrics

After days of anxious anticipation, I pulled the toy surprise step counter out of Somnia’s box of Apple Jacks. It was advertised on the side of the box so it was really no surprise. After several minutes of struggling to open the plastic packaging, Somnia placed it on the waste band of her PJs and began to walk. She took a hearty 20 pace trip from the kitchen, into the dining room and back then checked her step counter to verify the results. The step counter displayed a mere 4 steps.

Noticeably distraught by the inaccurate results, Somnia inquired as to what the problem might be with her new step counter. I took a quick look at it to verify that it indeed was clocking steps as opposed to some other unit of measure and reported back to Somnia that her step counter was of somewhat substandard quality and not sensitive enough to accurately measure her steps. It also had no features that would allow for adjustment of sensitivity. In summary, “It’s a cheap thing Somnia,” I reported back.

Somnia looked up at me pondering her response for a couple of seconds, “No it’s not papa because Rachael from school has the exact same one.” With that, she marched into the other room oblivious to the obvious inaccuracies of the piece of plastic affixed to her waist. I left it at that. Why ruin her fun.

Keesey Family

I just got this info tracing the Keesey family back from me through every father's father up to my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great Grandfather in the 16th Century in what would be Switzerland today. Pretty cool.

Here is the link: Keesey Family
