According to The Sun Online (a highly credible source mind you) there are scores of good looking woman out there who love them an ugly-ass man. See the article here. Aside from the fact that I may actually be the beneficiary of such a phenomenon, I can't help wonder if the author of this article is himself a fat and balding mess looking to make his case to The Sun's immense base of good looking female readers. ;) Nice try buddy. I'll give you an "A" for creativity.
Here is the photo that was splashed on the front page of the Athens Post today. This past weekend was Mom's Weekend at OU where hundreds if not thousands of moms descend on campus and act worse than their kids. How would you like to be this mom's kid? Imagine sitting in class as all your classmates walk in with papers under their arms that feature your sloppy drunk mom laid out on the pavement with her belly hanging out. It even listed her name and hometown. Ouch.

Note Jakob Nielson's comments. He notes that regardless of the popularity of virtual worlds such as SL, most data is best presented in current 2D formats. I agree with this to a point. The technology and interface in the current 3D space is too tied to the 2D metaphor and as such is very clumsy. However, we have not even begun to see what is possible given better 3D interfaces. I read last month that a hack for the Nintendo Wii controller was almost finished that would allow the Wii controller to work with Second Life. That rocks. Electric Sheep representatives are of the opinion that shopping will eventually migrate into the virtual web in droves. I agree. That will happen sooner than later.
